Yo he escrito hoy una carta para apoyar a la Dra. Myhill. En realidad la ha redactado la amiga que me aloja, ya que mi inglés sigue siendo de opening (Creo que la fase I a la que se refería Virginia será perpetua para mí); la he firmado, escaneado y mandado a:

No nos cuesta nada escribirle y le podemos ayudar mucho.

La fecha límite creo que será el 26 o 27, así que tenemos pocos días.

El motivo es que algún médico de UK la ha denunciado por su página Web, aludiendo que es peligrosa para la salud de los pacientes...En realidad lo peligroso es que haya médicos capaces de hacer tal cosa. Hasta la fecha, no ha habido ninguna queja de ningún paciente o enfermo, entre miles, y además cada uno de los suplementos que recomienda han demostrado en estudios ser efectivos en el SFC...En fin, así son las cosas.

Acabo de escribir una carta estándar que podéis mandar si queréis, con las directrices anteriormente expuestas. Mi inglés sigue siendo de "opening" (Con perdón para los de opening...), así que si te animas, Eli, please, corrígela, vale?

Definitely, her website has been an invaluable resource of reliable information that has changed my life, and also the life of many other people affected by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

I really think that patients would be in jeopardy without the knowledge offered by Dr. Myhill to many Doctors that are willing to help their patients, but do not have the proper training to face such a difficult Syndrome as CFS.

I would also like to emphasize the fact that all the nutritional supplements and natural therapies recommended by Dr. Myhill, have been proved in peer review studies as to improve especifically the quality of life of the people affected by CFS.

I would very much appreciate a written acknowledgement of my concerns in this matter, hoping that my support, and the positive experiences of all of Dr. Myhill’s patients are taken into account in the hearing held on April 29th, 2010.

Hola, he modificado el párrafo polémico, de manera que cada uno coja el que prefiera, en función de sus circunstancias. Sólo he modificado el texto de volver al trabajo por el de "me he recuperado lo suficiente como para poder disfrutar de actividades "normales", que no había podido realizar en años"

Permitidme que disienta un poco de un párrafo, porque me parece peligroso que reciban una
carta así.
Pone , el que la escribe y firma, "que ha pasado de estar la mayor parte del tiempo en cama, a recuperarse totalmente y volver a trabajar."
quizás sea así para alguien, pero no para la mayoría, y creo que si recibieran muchas cartas con el texto anterior, podrían pensar que la Dra Myhil tiene un tratamiento efectivo, recuperador al 100%,y dejaría,por tanto , de ser una enfermedad crónica y susceptible de pensión de invalidez.
Creo que tampoco se puede mentir, y que eso sólo lo puede decir aquél al que le ha ocurrido efectivamente.El resto podrán decir que han mejorado, mucho o poco, simplemente y que la apoyan.


Es sólo mi humilde opinión.

Esto es una caza de brujas; más diría yo, un aviso a navegantes; el médico que ponga los pies fuera del plato lo van a crucificar. Por eso es necesario que actuemos.

Gracias Eli por la corrección y por dar las dos versiones. Yo tampoco me he recuperado con su tratamiento, pero creo que si alguna vez hay que usar lo que llamamos una mentira piadosa, este sería el momento...La licencia de una de las personas que mas nos ha ayudado y más se desvive por nosotros, la Dra. Myhill, está en serio peligro, y personalmente me hierve la sangre al pensar que puede dejar de ejercer por este "Señor” que se mofa de la reclamación que puso a la Dra. Myhill, mientras tomaba un café, y con faltas de ortografía, según explica orgulloso, con una galantería que abruma...

Disculpad que no tradujera la carta...estaba muy cansado. Merce, tienes razón, cada uno ha de escribir lo que crea conveniente. Redacté lo que creí adecuado para ayudarla, pero entiendo tu postura.

Aquí podéis leer la delicia que escribió hace poco en un foro el que ha reclamado contra Myhill. Si alguien lo traduce, sería superb, que no puedo ahora (No os perdáis la frase en negrita, que usa a modo de cita...en fin):

“OK, so I finally bit the bullet and complained (anonymously for reasons that will become clear) to the GMC about uber-quack, Dr Sarah Myhill and to my surprise they have decided to launch a Fitness to Practise investigation. Her response has been quite interesting so I thought I would share it with the Badscience community. It will be interesting to see how the GMC proceed as I believe she has been in the same situation on numerous occasions in the past with similar public campaigns resulting in the GMC dropping charges for undisclosed reasons.

She has a (public) Interim Order Panel (IOP) hearing on 29th April at which she could have her license to practise suspended for 18 months.

This was written with some haste during a coffee break and hence contained a few typo’s. Amusingly, after submitting my full complaint the GMC decided to use this email to front the complaint to Myhill *sigh*."

Statement by Dr Myhill April 29th 2010

I have worked for thirty years in general practice of which twenty have been as an NHS GP. During that time I have witnessed a decline in the moral standing of the medical profession. I have watched them slip from the listening, caring, thinking healers into deaf, uncaring robots who, barring a notable few, no longer ask the question why? They simply ask which drug? Many patients when advised to consult their doctor simply shrug their shoulders and say “There is no point”.



My journey through medicine has been a wonderful and fascinating learning experience simply by asking the question why? Through extensive research and with help from colleagues and patients I now know without any doubt that medicine based on nutrition, diet and lifestyle changes is an extraordinarily powerful tool with which to tackle the most difficult of clinical situations. I see daily almost unbelievable recoveries from disease as, with this knowledge, patients are empowered to walk their own path and restore their health.



These powerful tools need no high tech medications or high brow medical input. With this in mind I decided to try to make this information available free to all through my website. The website will never be finished and never be perfect! It will constantly change as more is learned. I am indebted to those many people who have supplied me with information and ideas which I am always happy to adopt where there is a sound scientific basis. If today means that more people will be alerted to that information and through this more will find their own path to good health, then whatever the outcome of this Hearing today I shall be content.



I would like to thank everyone for the extraordinary, overwhelming and humbling support for my case. There have been moments when the spirits were low but were invariably lifted by the magnificent response during perhaps the most difficult 20 days of my life.

He trabajado durante treinta años en la práctica general de los cuales veinte han sido como un GP del NHS.(Medico de la SS inglesa , me imagino) Durante ese tiempo he sido testigo de una disminución de la integridad moral de la profesión médica. He visto que se deslizan de la escucha, el cuidado, pensando como robots curanderos sordos e indiferentes que, salvo unos pocos, ya no hacen la pregunta ¿por qué? Simplemente preguntan qué drogas? Muchos de los pacientes cuando se aconseja consultar a su médico simplemente se encogen de hombros y dicen "No tiene sentido".



Mi viaje a través de la medicina ha sido una experiencia de aprendizaje maravillosa y fascinante, simplemente por hacer la pregunta ¿por qué? A través de una extensa investigación y con la ayuda de colegas y pacientes que ahora sé sin lugar a dudas que la medicina basada en la nutrición, la dieta y los cambios de estilo de vida es una herramienta extraordinariamente poderosa para hacer frente a la más difícil de las situaciones clínicas. Veo todos los días de recuperación casi increíble de la enfermedad, ya que con este conocimiento, los pacientes tienen la facultad de caminar su propio camino y restaurar su salud.



Estas poderosas herramientas no necesitan medicamentos de alta tecnología o de entrada frente alta médica. Con esto en mente, decidí tratar de hacer esta información gratuita para todos a través de mi página web. El sitio nunca se completay no es perfecto! Se cambiará constantemente a medida que más se aprende. Estoy en deuda con las muchas personas que me han facilitado información e ideas que estoy siempre dispuesto a adoptar, cuando existe una base científica sólida. Si hoy significa que más personas se alertó a la información ya través de esto más que encontrar su propio camino hacia una buena salud, entonces cualquier cosa que el resultado de esta audiencia de hoy voy a estar contenta.



Me gustaría dar las gracias a todos por lo extraordinario, y el apoyo abrumador humillante para mi caso. Ha habido momentos en que los espíritus eran bajos, pero siempre se levantaron por la magnífica respuesta en tal vez la más difícil de los 20 días de mi vida.
