SFC/EM Investigación

Hola

Apologies for posting in English, my Spanish is very basic.

I'm running Barcelona Marathon on March 12th to raise money and awareness for biomedical research for ME/CFS and the charity Invest In ME (www.investinme.org). Invest In ME are founder members of the European ME Alliance which I believe Liga SFC are a part of, I know they also have a good relationship with ASSSEM.

I wondered if any patients living in Barcelona would like to meet before or at the race for pictures and a chat/drink?

One of my best friends has ME/CFS and for the last 18 months I've been running marathons all over Europe (I've done 9 so far and have another 19 to do) to highlight the need for more research and a change in attitudes by governments towards patients.

I'm interviewing patients in Spain and writing a blog piece which I'm hoping will get a lot of views. I'm also hoping to get support from FC Barcelona and local media.

I think one very important thing we definately need is social and media awareness of this illness, so that people who should make decisions MOVE and take ACTION.

Creo que algo que algo muy importante que necesitamos es la visibilidad social y de los medios de comunicación, de forma que las personas que tienen que tomar decisiones se MUEVAN y se pongan en MARCHA.

I used to live in Barcelona for the past two years and unfortunately I returned to my city because of this illness. I hope and I am sure people who live in Barcelona will support your initiative.

Me estoy entrevistando con pacientes en España y escrbiendo un blog con la experiencia en el que espero que obtenga muchas visitas. Espero también tener apoyo del Barcelona FC y media (prensa) local.

I´ve gone through the stories about Spanish ME patients and they are really touching, and I think this is one of the best ways people get to know what this illness means.
